EXTENSIONS | STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING SERVICES

We have done many loft conversions over the years.

It’s a great way to cheaply increase your living space without the

hassle and mess of a full-scale extension. An office, a playroom

or an amazing living space, what will you create?

WE DO EXTENSIONS. GET IN TOUCH FOR A FREE CONSULTATION

First thing to consider when pondering over whether an extension is a viable option for you is: Will it have an impact on my neighbours?

If your prospected work involves digging foundations or building within 3 metres of a boundary wall you will be required to comply with the Party Wall Act. It is easy to get entangled with a barrage of red tape including party wall agreements, party wall notices and the written notices you need to have up for at least two months before any works may start. We can help ease the process of getting your extension done through for maximum peace of mind.

You should also consider access to your property and how your works will affect your neighbours.

What will your extension cost?

No quick answer to this one as the answer varies massively based on location, size of the extension, quality of the finishes (Bricks etc) and so on.

In the main a single-storey extension should cost around £1000-£2000 per square metre.

Sure, there will be cheaper and more expensive options but always read the reviews, and try to have a conversation with someone that has done a similar extension. This insight is golden.

If you’re going up, a 2 storey extension  should not cost double and so on. The roof/foundations carry a lot of the cost, on each extra storey you go up you’re only really paying for walls and floor joists. So be sure you don’t get ripped off.

Structural roof design

In addition, we also offer drawing and planning application services. Our design service considers the layout, thermal insulation, sound insulation and heating.

Furthermore, the design service agenda also includes electrics, lighting, and window ventilation.

Our in-house architects can obtain the necessary planning permissions and consent and are very enthusiastic to arrange meetings with clients.

Roofs represent intricate segments of engineering, and renovations cannot start without the advice of a structural engineer. Please contact Structural Engineering Services today to initiate your project.
